GOT THE DECKING CUT OUT

1/2inch plywood floor cut and ready paint on bottom side.. should have this painted and installed by this evening along with some sips of the silver bullet!

wood for the bow "front" section of the floor

wood for the rest of the floor

PAINTED THE INTERIOR FRAMING

Last night i painted the interior framing with a heavily slopped on coat of good ole latex.
the idea here is to protect the wood... didnt want to spend money on water seal or anything like that cause i have about 10 misc gallons of paint from our remodeling adventures since we've purchased our house 12 yrs ago. It should do some good and it was good sherwin williams exterior grade...its been on my house for 10 + years and still looks good. below are pictures of the painted framing.

The work has begun

after cleaning out the hull, it was time to replace the stringers in the boat "the boards that are running from the front to the back". As you can see in the pictures below i have also added joists to support the plywood decking that will be the floor of the houseboat. The stringers were glued back into the boat hull using the existing stringer channels and PL construction adhesive. This stuff is BAD A$$ and if you ever intend to use it make sure you wear gloves because it will get on you and it doesnt come off unless you get it off ASAP with acetone. So the 2x4's were cut to run across the stringers to support the plywood deck. this is not the original construction of the boat. all that would normally be there is just the stringers. This is being built to support all of the added weight that will be in house boat ie... cabinets, bed, toilet, storage, sink, stove etc...

back of the boat looking forward
the rear of the boat - the white octagon in the back is where we sealed the outdrive hole "the part that contains the prop and waterpump of the motor

in the beggining

so my neighbor had this boat on a piece of property a few miles from home and i liked it a lot. It was in poor shape but the hull is solid and some what restoreable. he mentioned that he always thought it would make a neat little houseboat or a small floating cabin/condo. Well I have always wanted a camp or a house boat to call my own and this seems a great and economical way to try it out before sinking money into something. I aquired the boat from my neighbor and the planning and measuring were underway.below are some before photos of the beast. this is what it looked like before i started to clean it out!!!!
this boat is made by marquis - not sure what model though
and the inside full of stuff ---rot-bugs-foam-trash etc.
